Coptic Christians Face Religious Persecution And Death

January 31. 2012

With the ongoing religious conflicts in Egypt and other parts of the Middle East, regarding Muslim opposition to Christians worshipping freely, it is easy for some to forget the freedoms people enjoy in the West. As Christians we must exercise our right to worship God without hindrance or fear of retaliation. We must retain our faith through the trials and tests of life. No one should deprive us of these freedoms, as to do so would constitute serious human rights abuses.

Christians fear losing freedoms in Arab Spring movement

Updated 10h 44m ago - CAIRO – From her home in a labyrinth of stonewalled alleyways, Samia Ramsis holds a key chain bearing the face of the Virgin Mary as she sits in her yellow pajamas on the morning of Orthodox Christmas. Mina Bouls worships with other Coptic Christian deacons at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Philadelphia on Orthodox Christmas Eve.

Sunlight pours in through a window. Outside, visitors come to look upon the spot where Egypt's Christians — most known as Copts — believe the Holy Family found refuge after fleeing Bethlehem and assassins sent by King Herod to kill the baby Jesus.

Once crowded with Christians, Cairo's Coptic quarter where Samia lives with her husband, Mounir, and two children is home to fewer than 50 Christian families. "We know many Christians have left," says Mounir Ramsis, speaking not only about this quarter but about all of Egypt. "But we love this country and will stay until death."

Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:15  - Orissa, India, January 31 (Compass Direct News) – A Hindu extremist in Adigar, Phulbani, Kandhamal district on Jan. 25 attacked a pastor’s hut and harassed his family, according to the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC). Jaleshwar Pradhan threw stones at the home of Pastor Patiba Mohan Kota while he was away, verbally abused his wife and pushed his daughters, shouting, “You Christians must not live here – it is not your land; the last time your houses were only damaged, this time all of you will be buried here,” the GCIC reported. Though damage to the house was minimal, the pastor and his family were anguishing in fear as Hindu extremists have previously tortured him physically, causing partial loss of eyesight and hearing, reported the GCIC. The pastor was among those whose houses were destroyed during anti-Christian violence in

Violence Against Christians In Nigeria And Egypt Hits The International Radar

December 31. 2011

"Blasts in Nigeria following Christmas Day bombings"

The nation of Nigeria is torn and divide over Muslims engaging in church bombings against Christians, killing dozens of people at Christmas once again. Christianity is the largest religion in Nigeria, but Muslims seek to bring Shariah Law to the nation by force, resulting in open conflict and casualties.

In Egypt, authorities were on high alert over the holiday season, due to past incidents, with the hope of preventing violent attacks on Coptic Christians in the region, who have faced violence from Muslims. The bloodshed is unnecessary. People need to learn to dwell peacefully in their respective nations and not resort to violence as a means of getting one's point across.

Politicians That Respect And Honor The Faith As Opposed To Those Who Do Not

November 30. 2011

White House

With the race for the White House heating up, politicians are making pleas to the church for votes. America's religious majority is the Christian faith. So often politicians play on the church's good nature in seeking office. However, as Christians, we must look past all the political rhetoric and earnestly look at the deeds of those seeking office.

Does the candidate's track record on matters of the faith, such as honoring marriage and human life, including the unborn but alive via pregnancy, square up to how God defines it in the Bible. If not, that is not someone that deserves your vote. No one is perfect, but at the end of the day, if people of the faith vote for those that oppose what we believe, said politician will go into office and enact laws and create policies that go against all we hold dear.

Metal Relic Revealing A Picture Of Jesus And Mary

October 31. 2011

A relic has been unearthed in Israel, revealing a portrait of Jesus and Mary on a small book. The find is quite remarkable and its survival after all this time just as great. A number of impressive archaeological relics supporting the Bible have been found in Israel and I hope it is a tradition that will continue.

Harold Camping Apologies For False Prophecies Regarding The Rapture

October 31. 2011

Harold Camping

Radio broadcaster, Harold Camping, has done the right thing, in apologizing for the false prophecies he twice issued this year, regarding the rapture and return of Jesus. It led to some making jokes about him in the mainstream press. Camping repeatedly prophesized what day the event would transpire and was wrong each time.

Compendius is of the view, one is not to do such things, as it is not in line with the integrity of the Bible. Camping openly went against the Bible, where it is stated no one knows the exact moment of Christ's return. Camping should refrain from making such prophecies in the future. The Bible indicates the way to know a true prophet is the things said prophet prophecies, not guesses, happens.

The main principles the Lord wants people to take from the Bible is living life to the fullest in a decent way, like each day is your last, becoming a better person and following in His ways, through placing one's faith in Jesus and following his example of integrity. He also wants people to change their unethical behavior.

Most would agree, the world would be a much better place if people were faithful to each other in marriage (not breaking each others' hearts), refrained from violence and abuse, told the truth and did not steal from others, depriving them of their property, to name a few.
