Explicit Lyrics Encourages Teens To Have Sex

February 28. 2009

A study by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh has revealed, explicit music lyrics encourages teens to engage in sex at an earlier age.

I'm not surprised by this news, as it is something I have written about over the past few years. There is a correlation there that is often ignored. It's time artists took more responsibility for the music they release to the public.

Degrading rap lyrics encourage youngsters to have sex earlier, claims study

Lyrics by musical artists such as 50 Cent have been linked to encouraging teenagers to have sex

Rap songs containing degrading sexual lyrics could be driving teenagers into having sex earlier, a study claims.

Those who frequently listened to songs by artists such as rapper 50 Cent and the Ying Yang twins were more than twice as likely to have had sex compared to those with the least exposure...

Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh surveyed 711 American students aged between 13 and 18-years-old...

Lead author Dr Brian Primack from the University of Pittsburgh said exposure to sexual lyrics had a strong association with sexual activity.

'There certainly seems to be a link, but it is hard to say whether listening to music is directly contributing to having sex earlier,' he said.

'Parents should be talking to their children about sex and putting these sorts of lyrics in context.'

The study will be published in the April issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine...

Gay Adoptions

February 28. 2009

The topic of gay adoptions has been in the news again. I do not believe it healthy for gay couples to adopt children. Homosexuality is an alternative lifestyle and as such, it brings emotional issues with it that should not be transferred to a child, being in that environment.

This world is complicated enough, without growing up with that type of confusion in the home. Adoptive parents should be stable, loving people with traditional core values. It is not right to subject a child to anything else.

North Dakota Abortion Ban

February 28. 2009

The U.S. state of North Dakota has approved a ban on abortion. The decision was rendered through the state’s legislature.

ND House Passes Abortion Ban

North Dakota's House of Representatives has passed a bill effectively outlawing abortion. The House voted 51-41 this afternoon to declare that a fertilized egg has all the rights of any person.

That means a fetus could not be legally aborted without the procedure being considered murder...

Nurse Suspended For Praying For Patient

February 28. 2009

Caroline Petrie

A nurse in England, Caroline Petrie, was suspended from her job for offering to pray for a sick patient. When someone offers to pray for you it is a blessing. To reject that is to disrespect God.

The nurse did nothing wrong in offering to pray for the patient. I think some people are getting too politically correct and jaded.

Nurse suspended for offering to pray for patient to get better

A Christian nurse has been suspended after offering to pray for the recovery of an elderly patient.

Caroline Petrie, 45, was accused of failing to show a commitment to equality and diversity after the incident and is now awaiting the outcome of a disciplinary hearing.

The community nurse who carries out home visits in North Somerset, has been suspended by the primary care trust and could lose her job.

The married mother-of-two argues she did not force her beliefs on anyone but simply asked if the woman would like a prayer said for her, as she has done with other patients...

"Christian Refuses To Drive 'No God' Bus"

February 28. 2009

A Christian bus driver, Ron Heather, refused to drive a bus with advertising sponsored by an atheist, which read "There Is No God."

I applaud the bus driver's convictions. A group of people have since sponsored an ad proclaiming there is a God in heaven. Well done.

Atheists Advertise 'There Is No God' On British Buses

A Christian bus driver refused this week to drive a bus that displayed an atheist advertisement saying "There's probably no God" on the side, reports said on Friday.

The driver from Southampton in Hampshire reacted with "shock" and "horror" last Sunday when he saw the slogan and walked out of his shift in protest, the BBC reported.

"I was just about to board and there it was staring me in the face, my first reaction was shock horror," driver Ron Heather told BBC radio.

"I felt that I could not drive that bus, I told my managers and they said they haven't got another one and I thought I better go home, so I did," he said.

"I think it was the starkness of this advert which implied there was no God." ...
